Big Thanks from Calcutta to Cambridgeshire Club

COTTENHAM JAGUARS NETBALL CLUB are proud to share the fact that we have made the lives of the children from the Salt Lake, Dhapa, Calcutta's largest garbage dump, a little easier.

A parent from our Junior Club is involved with a charitable foundation in India called the Jungle Crows and asked if we would be able to help with the cause. We decided that our old trainers could be useful so we massed a collection and they were sent those far less fortunate in India.

The Jungle Crows carry out social development work through sport, primarily rugby: taking the sport into the slums, working with youngsters and using that contact to educate on health, safety issues and so on. Youngsters drawn into the foundation then begin to get access to better education opportunities, training, jobs and general life chances.

The children in India love their sport and are always happy when they know others are playing just like them. They heard that our u14 and u16 teams had qualified for the Regional round of the National Clubs Competition by winning the Cambridgeshire County League and sent us this wonderful ‘good luck’ poster as a recognition of our donation. We are all humbled by their thoughtfulness and look forward to helping the cause again in the near future.
