Cambridgeshire Police VS Cambridgeshire Fire and Resuce Service

01 March 2018

Cambridgeshire have piloted a new Emergency Services Netball Match with Back to Netball sessions prior to the match for the ladies that have not played in a while. The plan moving forward is to get other Emergency Services involved in this project.

28 ladies attended the training sessions with two full squads playing on Tuesday 27th February 2018 at Hinchingbrooke School on their new indoor sports hall.

The match finished 36-7 to the Police. A trophy and shield were awarded to the Police to be engraved with the winning year. Each year this shield will be used for these matches.

It was a great match with fierce competition, the Fire Service ladies have not played netball for many years and have never played together as a team. Most intend to join local Clubs following this initiative. Local Netball Clubs also supported this, being Hawks NC in Huntingdon offering extra coaching and support to the ladies that felt quite nervous in taking to the court.
