CCNA Host RCL Entry Tournament 2016

On a very hot Sunday at the tail-end of May, Cambs CNA hosted this years Regional Playoff Tournament at Impington.

With 6 teams in contention for the 2 spots, it was always going to be an exciting day of netball. Teams that entered from the East Region were:

Billericay, Omega, Belton, Civil Service, Thouroughbreds and Cambridgeshire's very own Cherries.

The action took place across 5 thrilling rounds of netball, with teams playing 24 min matches back to back. The atmosphere was tense and it came down to the last match between Billericay and Thoroughbreds as to who might take the tournament crown. Billericay were overall winners, winning all of their games and it 2nd place were Omega. 3rd and 4th were extremely close, with Thoroughbreads clinching an extra point in the last game, placing them one above Cherries. Civil Service and Belton came 5th and 6th respectively.

Cherries has an excellent tournament, playing passionate netball throughout the morning and never giving up. They had two excellent wins at the ends of the day, however this was not quite enough to get them a first or second spot. Support was rife, with lots of Cambs teams coming out to support our girls in black and red, they should be very proud of all they achieved and how well they reflected our county.

All officiating was covered by Cambs representatives, umpires managed by Cat Blee and score table by Naomi Zielinska. As always after these events, I am truly grateful to all who came to support and help on the day, making it as successful as it was.
