FOCUS ON... City of Ely Netball Club

CITY OF ELY NETBALL CLUB have recently received their Bronze CAPs award, this was from dedication and hard work from the Club in particular, Sue Deas who looks after the administration of the Club.

This is a great achievement from what started as a small Club in a Fenland City.

They now have 3 teams now playing in the Cambs and District Netball League and an U16 team that compete in the CDNL Junior League.

City of Ely Netball Club formed March 2011.

Originally they had two teams, one in County Premier League the other in CDNL Division 1.

They then launched a third squad for start of 2013-14 season, CDNL Division 5 due to having more players within the Club.

About 25 adult members train regularly on Thursday evenings in Ely at The Kings School, Sponsored by 'Fenland Farming Ltd'

The Junior Section launched September 2012, 20 girls, School Years 7-11, they also train weekly in Ely.

The U16 team compete in The County Premier Junior League.  This section was set up by Janette Bowden our Netball Development Officer, this was initiated by a Sportivate funding for 6 weeks originally which was very successful engaging with more juniors in and around the City of Ely.
