U12 tournament – Saturday 12th January at Cambridge University Sports Centre

ENG Sports are a private company who organise sporting events in many sports around the country.  Comberton Netball club entered the eastern regional round of their U12 netball tournament on 12th January.  Teams from Norfolk, Bedford, Hertfordshire, Essex and Cambridgeshire were taking part.

There were 4 divisions in the first round of games.  Comberton came second in the first round beating Hampton and Hertfordshire Hornets but losing out to Saffron Hawks by a very tight 2 goals.  We went into the quarter finals and played against Swan Netball which we won.  We came up against Saffron Hawks again in the semi final but this time we kept our heads and came away with the win, which put us in the final against Turnford who are one of the biggest clubs in the Eastern region.  It was a good game but unfortunately Turnford took the win which left Comberton overall runners up in the competition.

The top 4 clubs will go through to the final of the competition which will be held on Saturday 2 March in High Wycombe Sports Centre from 4pm – 8pm.  Comberton will be seeded 2 in the finals so a lot to live up to.

The girls had a fantastic day and played some great netball.  The games were nail-biting stuff as we only had 8 minutes to secure the result but the players rose to the occasion.  The club are very proud of every player and want to thank the parents for their support on the day.
