County Premier League end of season Report

League fixtures have now been completed with winners of Division 1 Cherries Netball Club & runners up Cojags Netball Club. The Division 2 winners were Comberton 2 Netball Club with runners up Jets Netball Club. Congratulations go to all clubs this year as it has been an exciting year with many good matches.

The U16 & U14 County leagues were both won by Cojags with Comberton A taking runners up positions for both age groups. Both Cojags and Comberton teams were entered into the Regional tournament – unfortunately the U14 team lost all of their matches while the U16 team won one match & came 4th in their group. This unfortunately does show Cambridgeshire still has a long way to go for our younger teams but the experience & effort they gain is immense.

As we lost 2 teams this year to the Regional Division 3 league, Rookies & Harriers, this meant our league finished slightly earlier this year. To compensate for this we are running a tournament over 2 weeks to ensure our players still get plenty of netball. The first week was last Sunday with some exciting netball being played. The finals are this Sunday & should also be an exciting finish to our Premier league season.

Congratulations go to Rookies Netball Club for winning the Division 3 Regional league this season & they have won promotion to the 2nd Division for next season, joining Comberton 1. We wish Cherries Netball Club well when they enter the Regional play offs & although we do not want to lose them we hope they go on to be yet another Cambridgeshire team playing in the Regional league.

Now it is time to start planning for next season – we already have confirmation that Cambourne Netball Club have won promotion from the S. Cambs League & Harriers 2 have won promotion from the HP&L League. Hopefully we will also see a new team up from the Wisbech League.
