Hinchingbrooke School Netball Teams Triumph in France!

HINCHINGBROOKE SCHOOL'S NETBALL ACADEMY took three teams to play in the International Junior Netball Festival based at Euro Disney in Paris, during the 2014 Easter break.

The tour consisted of three days of netball, including a Master Class coaching session with visits from Mavericks and England International Sophia Candappa, and Loughborough Lightning and New Zealand International Jessie Waitapu. When not playing, the teams spent time in the Disney Parks.

After the first day’s play the teams were put into leagues for the finals, with the U16’s winning through their league to play Acklam Grange A from Middlesbrough in the final. Having drawn with them in the previous round they went one better in the final winning 13-9 to become the 2014 International Junior Netball festival U16 Challenger Plate Competition winners.

The U14’s took to the courts after the first day's play and they were put in a league with six other teams. The U14 teams both played extremely well as a team and were driven to win each vital game in order to be in for a chance of first to third place. Unfortunately the A team was beaten by one goal the second game of the day, which meant that they were then competing for 4th to 6th place. For the final nerve-racking game, the A and the B team had to play against each other in the battle for 5th and 6th place. After a fantastically competitive game, the B team was awarded 5th place and the A team came away with 6th place.

Hinchingbrooke School would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the local businesses that supported us in our fundraising efforts prior to the tour.
