by Olivia Petherick, CCNA Chairperson

Dear Members

The start of 2016 has been one of best yet, with two local schools and one local junior team representing us at a national level.

Last Sunday (14th March) CoJags u14 team were representing Cambs at the Regional Torunament. After a hard-fought day, with the girls playing some fantastic netball, they have made it through to National Clubs finals. Congratulations to the players and the club a great result and now we await this space!

This year Cambs was represented by 2 teams at the IAPS National Finals, taking place at Roedean on Saturday 12th March. Huge congratulations to St Faith's, Cambridge, who were u13 finalists, and King's Ely who were u12 finalists. The standards were very high and a great day of netball was had by all.

The CDNL Winter League has now finished and huge congratulations to Burwell 2, who have finished top of Division 1 - well done girls and good luck in County Premier League next year! Well done also to all the winners of the divisions 2 - 5.

Coming up:

At the beginning of May (1st) we have our Regional Screening Day, where we will be showcasing our most promising junior athletes. Last year we had over 150 girls and numbers are looking good again.

All our leagues are holding tournaments over the next few months, including our Junior Development Group, who have had a really successful first year, with over 30 teams taking part in the 3 different age categories.

Finally a date for your diary - Sunday 22nd May - Regional Play-offs hosted by Cambs at Impington Sports Centre. Come and join us for what will be a thrilling day of netball, with teams competing to go to regional level next year. Currently Cherries are vying to represent Cambs as they are top of the premier league, however with 3 games left all could change at the top of the table.

Watch this space for more news of what is going on in Cambridgeshire!

Just to note that St Faith's had two teams at the IAPS nationals, the U12 team had qualified as Regional Champions at Uppingham, beating King's Ely in the process.
