Matchplays and Tournaments

More than ever there have been plenty of match play and tournament opportunities for the athletes this year. Satellites have played two away tournaments and County one in May. Thank you to all those athletes for taking part. We hope that these experiences have proved worthwhile for your development.

Coaches’ News

Unfortunately, as well as giving thanks to everyone who has made this season a success, we have to say a goodbye to our South Satellite Head Coach Charlotte Malyon. Charlotte has been a very key influence in the creation of the current structure of the Academy, instigating key procedures while she was Performance Lead. She proved to be an effective leader with considerable drive and enthusiasm. She has been a popular coach and passed on an incredible enthusiasm for the game of netball. She will be sadly missed but I hope we will be able to see her from time to time if we need some coaching support.

I would like to take the opportunity welcome new faces to the coaching team for next year. Holly Peck will work in the role of Head Coach at South Satellite and Nicola White will work with the County squad as a Volunteer Coach. Both Holly and Nicola will bring enthusiasm and expertise to the squads and we look forward very much to working with them next season.

County Regional League

This was a new regional initiative at the beginning of this season. The region recognised the great need for increased matchplay and competition. We believe that this has been a great success and hope that this will continue next season. The results of the league will be posted on the CCNA website when I receive them.

We have almost completed this year’s round of trials for the coming season. It is an incredible amount of work for us each year. I would like to thank a very valuable group of volunteers who have helped to make the trials a success, namely umpires, our wonderful Academy Administrator, Jenni Parcell, the first aider who attended every trial, registration help and not least the selectors. We are a strong team which made it a very successful set of sessions.

Finally, on behalf of the all the coaches I would like to thank athletes’ parents for all the support you offer your daughter’s during their Performance Pathway. We are always grateful that you lend your support by driving considerable distances at times so that she can take part in regional activities.

Inevitably we will have to say goodbye to some athletes at the end of this season but do sincerely hope that they continue to play the lovely game of netball.

Juliet Francis

Cambs Performance Lead
